Mother's Day

Today is a very bitterweet day. I have a lot of emotions and thoughts running through my head. Instead of being upset and sad, I am going to be happy and faithful. I know that my mom is no longer here with me but I know that she is always watching me no matter what. She is up with God guiding me through life. My mom always taught me to be positive and strong and to no matter what always be myself. Before she passed away, she made two videos for me. One video was about life in general and her words of wisdom. The other video was about boys. Touchy subject but she had some great things to say that I always think about when it comes to boys!! Mothers know best. My dad however was a lot more strict on boys but he also knew which ones were good to keep. Below is a picture of me and my mom at Huntington Beach in California. We went there during my spring break of 2007. Me and my mom were and still are Disney freaks. Every year we would take a trip down to Florida or California. We both were just so happy when we went there. With my mom's positive outlook on everything, her cancer was just a little speck in the way of her fun. No matter how sick she was, she wanted everything to be amazing not just for her but for me. Everytime I think about it I want to cry because I feel at points I should have done more to help her. I know that regretting is not going to get me anywhere but to think that I did what I could at the time. This is me and my mom in Disneyland. She is still so beautiful bald!!!

Before my mom passed away, she told me and my Uncle Brian to put her somewhere special. We both were a little confused but then she was like and that special place is Walt Disney World. I was so happy that I could put her in the magical place because each time I was there she could be with me. I cant wait till I can bring my own children there and show them where their amazing grandma wil be!!! Me and my Uncle did fullfill her wish! My mother is now right in front of the Cinderella castle in the rose garden. :) I love you mom and miss you like crazy!

Discovery of Stumble

This week has been a boring/sad/study like crazy week. While I am on my study breaks, instead of sitting on facebook for hours, I have decided to try Stumble. Stumble is a website where you check off a bunch of things you enjoy and then it will randomize websites and show them to you. I am really enjoying this! I check off a bunch of things that I am interested in and actually found some awesome things.

Sports being one of them. I found a bunch of awesome football videos and photos that were just unbelievable!

Food being another. I keep stumbling upon recipes and certain food websites that have some yummy things that I will have to try and make over the summer.

Motivational Quotes. I am reading many different quotes from people that keep me motivated and I have saved them all in case I am feeling negative at times.

Travel. After I graduate college, I plan on traveling either with someone or by myself. My mother wanted me to so I am using some money to go an explore. I keep seeing these most amazing pictures of beaches and cities from different parts of the world and I really want to go visit there. Saved these too.

Overall Stumble may be the new Facebook for me. It feels a lot more accomplishing because I am finding new things to do and actually things that can make me a better person. However I think about it now and Facebook will probably never get old with me considering I am on it CONSTENTLY!!!

Disney College Program

This past Febuary, my family and I took a nice little vacation down to Orlando Florida and we went to Disney World. While I was down there, I had seem many flyers about the "Disney College Program". Had no clue what it was but I decided to get more information about it. So I went up to one of the students actually participating in it and she told me everything! This seemed like the perfect oppertunity for me!

So basically what this program does is it gives college students work experiance as well as school classes in the Walt Disney World Resort Area. As a member of this program, you will choose from a variety of jobs that you would be interested in working and then basically the Disney team chooses the job you will work. Then you can either take classes provided by Disney University (Yes this is a college!) or you can take online classes. This program is a great networking experiance for college students wishing to persue a career at Disney World. With me changing my major I thought why not apply for this!
So at the beginning of April, I applied for this internship. This consisited of going to a recruiting meeting on campus, filling out a web based interview, and then if you are good enough you would recieve a phone interview. I was lucky enough to pass the web based interview and then I was scheduled for a phone interview. My phone interview was on a Sunday and it actually went really well!!! The lady I talked to was very sweet and she thought I was a great canidate for the program. I was so excited because I just knew I would be going to Disney in the fall.

Well after the phone interview took place, the lady said o and you should here your results in about 3 weeks. Fair enough. Well I waited over 4 weeks to find out my awnser and was not to happy with the results. I was not choosen to be a part of the program this fall:( I was very upset about this because it was the one thing that I was really looking forward too. I would get my first actual job and I would be in my favorite place ever.

I look back on it now and I think things happen for a reason. There was some sort of reason of why I am not going this fall. I am trying to make this as much as a positive but it just sucks in the end. Now, my plan will be to enjoy my fall semester here at UNC and then re apply for the program for the spring term. Either way I would hope I get a shot a going considering I will keep applying no matter what. Till then I will just keep thinking purple thoughts :)

Hopefully the memories will begin soon :)

Finals Week

I have not been blogging for awhile but I will begin writing again! My last post was in December and now it is May. I am completeing my freshman year of college and I am a little overwhelmed. Is this really happening? I only have three more years left then I am going into the adult world. Wow time really does fly by.

Well after two semesters of college I have realized a lot. Go to class and study. I am not one to ever ditch class but hey when my alarm doesnt go off in the mornings I intend to miss a couple but I learned to sign up for later classes. In the past 6 months I have been declared as a Dietetics major but I was taking classes for the Nutrition major because that is what I was wanting to do. I then thought about doing Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality with a minor in Nutrition so that is where I am at now. No more science or math classes! :)

So here I am now going through finals week scared because my grades are at the point where it can go up or down. I am feeling confident however that I will ace the majority of them and have my GPA get even higher. Today is my first final, I will be doing a presentation for my Biology class. I love public speaking so I am not to nervous. Tuesday and Wednesday will be strictly study days considering I dont have anything going on those days. Thursday I have my Statistics final which is going to be fairly easy. The teacher is giving us a three page cheat sheet so this can be a cake walk. Then finally Friday..... Two finals Nutrition and Biology. My last finals but the harder ones. After those I will pack up and head home for the summer!

I am hoping this week will go fast but we will see! So good luck to me on my finals!

Delta Zeta

When I first got to college, I wanted to join some type of activity that would get me involved with the community and the school. I looked into many things and one of them was joining a sorority. Now many people think that sorority girls are all stuck up and rich. This assumption however is false. When I first began looking into joinging a sorority, I was a little shaky on it because I did not know what to expect out of it but I thought why not give it a shot cause you never know. I signed up online with my roommate and we went through the recruitment process together. During recruitment, we got to visit each of the houses and all of the girls who were active in the house. We then at the end of each day had to narrow down our choices. By day three, we recieved a slip of paper that would tell us which houses wanted us to come back and visit them. The houses that wanted me to come back were Delta Zeta and Alpha Omicron Pi. Out of the two, I chose Delta Zeta to be my first pick overall. The next day I recieved and invitation to join the Delta Zeta sorority. Now getting invited into the house does not mean you are "in" yet. Our group of girls that joined the house had to go through a long initiation process. This included longs meetings and a lot of memorizing! Eventually we all pulled through and made it! I can now call myself and active member of Delta Zeta:) This is me and some of the girls that were in my group for recruitment! Each girl is happy in each of the houses that they chose:) Me and my roommate Bri are actually in the same sorority!!! The girl in the middle with the blue dress, her name is Brenda and she was one of the girls that helped me through the process!!

Here is me after we got our shirts for recruitment:) WENT DZ!!:) I made such a great choice!

As we got into the sorority and began learning new things about it, we also began attending different events and having fun socials. Here is a group of the girls at the fraternity flag football game. We are all decked out in out colors:) Delta Zeta has the colors Rose and Green.. along with a turtle for the mascot:)

This is a picture of my roommate Bri, me, and Lauren. We are all part of DZ and we wanted to take a picture before the football game:) The hand signal that we are doing is special to Delta Zeta it is tradition. A lot of what a sorority is is its traditions.

One of the biggest events that each sorority has is Big Little Find. This process is where the new members and actives choose someone that they want to call their Big or their Little. As much as I wanted all of the actives to be my Big, I ended up with my Big being Lauren:) Lauren and me have the same personality and I can go to her for anything! I am so happy to call her my big! She really has taught me a lot about Delta Zeta and life in general. Above is a picture right after we found out who our Big's were and this is my Family. It is really big:)

Not only do I have a Big, but I have a Grand Big. Julie on the far right is my Grand Big. She just graduated this semester but I know I will always see her! She is awesome:) Then my Big Lauren is in the middle.

Then lastly, me and my amazing Big Lauren:) Joining Delta Zeta was such a great life change for me because it truly brought some great women in my life. I know that I can always trust them and go to them for advice. I really want to make a difference at DZ and be able to show new members in DZ what I learned:) A lot of great life memories will be made here.

College Life

After a great long relaxing summer, my time to head for college was here. Towards the end of August I packed up my Hyundai Tuscon and headed up to Greeley where I would begin my adventure at the University of Northern Colorado. I decided to go into college with a declared major in Nutirtion. I knew I would be taking some harder classes but I will willing to make that sacrifice. Before my classes had began me and my amazing roommates got adjusted. All 4 of us are living in Lawrencson Hall in a sweet style room. It is perfect for all of us because there is just enough space.
Here is a picture of my and one of my roomates Allie. She is from Colorado Springs and is a ball of energy!!! She always knows how to make anyone laugh!

As I began to get adjusted to the college life, I could not believe how different it was compared to being at home! No one is here to tell me what to do... Crazy. I can actually go out on a wednesday night or any other weekday night and not get into trouble! Me and my other roommates took advantage of going out! On the left is Christy she went to high school with me and she is just the sweetest person ever! Again she knows how to make someone laugh! On the right is Briana and she is from Parker. Briana is in the same room as me and we are two crazy people. I love her to death!

Here is a little tour of our room. The suite we are in includes a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and two sperate bedrooms. Below is our living room area. Good for watching movies and tv together or whenever people come over!

This is one of the rooms. Allie and Christy's room is very pink and bright! They have some really cool decorations in their room that makes it really unique. Christy is an artist and she painted a couple things for their room which is really neat!
This is part of the bathroom. In front on both rooms is the sink and mirror area. It is actually pretty big but when all four of us are trying to get ready at once, it can get a little hetic! As you can see all of our straightners and currling irons are always in place. The perfect area for getting ready!!!! We each color cordinated our towels. I am orange, Christy is pink, Allie is yellow, and Bri is green/pink.

Here is the actual bathroom. When we first moved in, everything was all white and gross. Allie's mom made us the shower curtain and she got us a shower rack along with the baskets and shelf! We really made it look nice! It is small but it works for all of us! What is really nice about all four of us is that we all like being clean. Each week we choose an area to clean and make sure that we clean that area really well. I must say our dorm is probably the cleanest!!!

Moving on into the next room. Bri and I share this room and we both have the same type of style!!! Here is a picture of her bed and desk. We put up a lot of things in our room but had a hard time keep them to stay because the sticky tape we use does not work! Thumb tacks we needed eventually even though they are not allowed.

This is my side of the room, I went with a black and white bedding because it matchs with a lot.
Currently, I have a lot more hanging up and I actually put another blanket on top of my bed because I am always cold.

Overall my rooming situation is amazing! I absolutley love my roomates and I am so lucky to have them with me! We have made tons of memories together here and plan on making many more!!!!

The Lake

In Nebraska, there is a private lake named Lake Johnson. It is a little bit out of Lexington but basically in the middle of no where. The lake is very big and very calm. During the weekdays, the lake is practically desert but on the weekends it gets pretty crowded. For the past couple years, each summer I have come to the lake to have some fun. We own a lake house right towards the end of the lake and it is the perfect location! The house is not to big nor to small, it is just perfect. We have a nice speed boat and a pretty good jet ski. I usually come up to the house around the 4th of july because we bring up some of our close friends. The weather is nice and hot and the water temp is like bath water. During the fourth we have around 10 to 12 people here and we always are doing something. Tubing is the main thing. Here is a picture of our wood swing that sits on the lawn looking out on the lake. When the sun sets, it is like being at a beach.
Here is me water skiing. I am very athletic and I have good balance from cheerleading so when I tried skiing for the first time on water, it came pretty easy. I was on two ski's for awhile and then I tried just one. I actually made it up on the first time which is very rare. Other then that, the lake house is a great get-a-way.
I enjoy each time I get to come here because I can let go of anything I am thinking about. I get to relax and chill.
